As each layer of colour is applied to the surface a layer of clear varnish follows to envelope those colours. The colour black is never used in Richard's palette. The absence of black combined with the glazing technique allows increased luminosity and further intensity of colour. The result is a rich brilliance within the darkest colours and a real life sense of light within the lightest colours. An original piece of art is something that is enjoyed daily by one or by many.
